Snap Back

The Dragons spent two weeks watching their perfect start disappear. On Sunday, they nearly made their franchise scoring record disappear with it.

Trevor Lawrence's 28 points led a 97-42 demolition of the Chickens, ending a two-game losing streak and leaving the Dragons one point short of the 98 they scored in Week 4 of 2011. It was the second-highest total in franchise history, the biggest score of Week 6 and a fairly emphatic reminder that a couple of losses had not emptied this lineup.

The standings offered a different kind of statement. The Refugees emerged as the league's only 5-1 team, the Merry Men and Brothers both lost, and the Poop finally won. Six weeks in, nobody is winless, and the league's scoring leader has changed again.

A Point to Prove

Lawrence threw for 306 yards and accounted for four touchdowns, but the Dragons' biggest advantage came from the number of places they could find points. Kenneth Walker III rushed for 128 yards and scored twice for 16 points. D'Andre Swift and Bhayshul Tuten each supplied two touchdowns and 14 points, giving that trio 44 points by itself. The Chickens finished with 42.

Chase McLaughlin added 13, while Romeo Doubs and Hunter Henry contributed six apiece. Seven of the Dragons' eight starters scored, five reached double figures, and even a scoreless afternoon from A.J. Brown could not slow the rout.

The Chickens got 16 from Kirk Cousins, 14 from Chris Boswell and eight from George Kittle. The other five starters combined for four. At 3-3, they are back at .500; the Dragons are 4-2 and two games clear of all three NFC East rivals.

Just as striking is the scoring race. The Dragons now have 370 points, edging the Merry Men's 369. Two weeks after the defending champions posted 96, the Dragons have answered with 97.

Maye Momentum

Last week's 99-point breakthrough was always going to be difficult for the White Guys to repeat. Beating the Brothers 63-40 made a convincing follow-up.

Drake Maye accounted for three touchdowns and 18 points, James Cook III added 12 behind 95 rushing yards and 58 receiving yards, and Tyler Bass supplied 15. RJ Harvey and Germie Bernard chipped in eight apiece. After scoring 119 points through four losses to open the season, the White Guys have scored 162 in two straight wins.

The Brothers received 16 from Christian McCaffrey but only six from Geno Smith, and their four-game winning streak ended. Their 4-2 record now matches the Beans, who beat the Mallards 46-23 behind Kyle Pitts Sr.'s 14 points, Matthew Stafford's 12 and Matthew Golden's 10.

The NFC West has tightened into pairs: the Brothers and Beans at 4-2, the Chickens and Huskers at 3-3. Bryce Young's 12 points and Ka'imi Fairbairn's 10 helped the Huskers past the Boys 36-28.

Room at the Top

The Refugees did not need fireworks to reclaim the league's best record. Josh Allen scored 12, Trey Smack added 11 and Chuba Hubbard delivered 10 behind 120 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 37-27 victory over the Eaters.

The Orangutangs stayed one game behind in the AFC East by beating the Merry Men 32-27. Harrison Butker's 10 points and Dameon Pierce's eight were enough against a lineup that scored from all eight spots but got no more than six from any of them. The Merry Men have followed their 4-0 start with consecutive losses, though the Eaters' defeat preserved their half-game lead in the AFC West.

The Llamas won the week's closest game, edging the Thugs 35-33 with 10 points apiece from Caleb Williams and Isaiah Likely. C.J. Stroud's 22 could not rescue the Thugs, who fell to 1-5.

Everybody's In

The Poop finally have company in the win column. Tyler Shough accounted for four touchdowns and 24 points, Tre Tucker scored twice for 14, and a 50-20 victory over the Buddies ended their five-game losing streak. Shough alone outscored the opposition.

The reward is a Week 7 meeting with the Dragons. The White Guys get the Orangutangs, while the Merry Men visit the Huskers looking to halt their own slide. A week ago, the White Guys supplied the league's loudest rebound. This week, the Dragons took their turn. The teams trying to climb back into contention are making plenty of noise.
