Stars Shining Brightly

The stars were out in the opening week of the 2024 playoffs as quarterbacks Jared Goff, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen all scored 30+ points and combined for 14 touchdowns.

However, Jackson and the White Guys came up short against Goff and the Brothers in an explosive NFC showdown that saw a combined 152 points scored. The White Guys pulled out to a lead behind Jackson's 32 points, but the combination of Goff and his NFL teammates WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and TE Sam LaPorta came charging back on Sunday afternoon. Goff sealed the victory with a 4th quarter touchdown pass despite the White Guys receiving a combined 28 points from RB James Cook and K Tyler Bass in the very same Buffalo-Detroit game. Goff has now crossed the 30 point threshold in consecutive opening round playoff games as he looks to lead the Brothers back to the Super Bowl for a second straight year. They'll face off with their divisional rivals the Chickens in a rematch of last year's scintillating playoff game that saw the Brothers prevail 111-50 in a record setting performance.

Over in the AFC, Allen continued his incredible run with 2 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs to spring the upset(?) over the Buddies, who many considered the favorite to bring home the title this year. Allen now has 96 points in his last 3 games and is showing no signs of slowing down. While Buddies RB Chase Brown scored twice, the backfield pair of Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon failed to find the end zone after an amazing season that saw the pair score at least 1 TD in 19 of the 23 games they started. The result was the Buddies' lowest scoring output of the season and another season ending in disappointment. The Refugees will take on the Merry Men in the AFC Championship this week with a trip to Super Bowl XXXII on the line.
