STORRS, CT The Huskers, who have been living like rock stars for the past year, are back at camp with the simple goal of repeating as YFFL champions. Owner Kevins Sansone likes what he sees with Priest Holmes apparently back at 100% and Rich Gannon not showing signs of aging. Sansone recognizes that running backs win you championships in this league and he is committed to improving the Huskers running game. Im still out to earn respect and show everyone that last year was no fluke. One owner who is also taking part in the expansion draft, even said that there should be an asterisk next to my championship season.

Biggest Question Facing Owner Kev Sansone

Can the Huskers beat the Chickens 3 more times this year? In what has turned into one of the more fascinating rivalries in the league, the Huskers and the Chickens each have no plans of letting down in 2003. They have arguably the best two backfields in the YFFL and it was no coincidence that they went a combined 21-5 last year. However, the Chickens clearly have more depth and that is a concern for Sansone and the Huskers.

Rising Star

Tiki Barber. Barber burst onto the YFFL scene last season and resurrected an otherwise mediocre fantasy career. Barber literally carried the team on his back after Priest Holmes went down with an injury deep in the playoffs.

Probable Starters

Gannon, Holmes, Barber, Ward, Booker, Ricks, Mare, Mason

Final Observations

The team of outcasts (everyone in their lineup was a cut at one point or another except for Gannon and Mason) should still be strong enough to make it back to the playoffs this season. Sansone will have to work hard to add depth to the roster. Pennington is waiting in the wings if Gannon falters. Ultimately, the lack of depth and a brutal schedule might do the Huskers in.
