Postcards from Camp

Summary

The 2012 season was a complete train wreck for the Dragons. They started out 5-3 and then proceeded to lose their last five games by 5 points, 3 points, 3 points, 1 point, and 5 points. It was some bad luck right up there with the 2009 Mallards and the 2005 Dragons. As this team ages they are starting to morph into the Peyton Manning led Dragons who always hung around the middle of the pack and were not quite terrible but not quite great. Aaron Rodgers keeps them in every game and even wins a handful by himself each year. Despite their best efforts, the Dragons haven't been able to land an impact WR in the draft in quite some time, their RB's are in their twilight, and the Davis Brothers at TE always leave you wondering what happened.

Aaron Rodgers Memories of the Dragons' 2008 championship are becoming a distant memory for Aaron Rodgers

Critical Question

Go running back or wide receiver at #5 in the draft? Jon will have a tough decision to make when it's his turn to draft. Does he take the best running back available to get some youth in the stables or does he grab one of the top WRs? I think the Dragons RBs hold up for one more year and the Dragons should grab one of the WRs.

Player to Watch

Vernon Davis, TE SF - It's been reported that Davis has been practicing exclusively with the WRs most of the summer. A year after being grossly underused, Davis is in line for a monster workload with Crabtree out. We've heard statements about big workloads for Davis in the past that never happened; it will be interesting to see if it materializes this season.

Lineup

Aaron Rodgers, Matt Forte, Frank Gore, Wes Welker, #5 Draft Pick, Vernon Davis, Draft Pick, Fred Davis

Outlook

Aaron Rodgers will continue to win games on his own, but overall this team has middle of the pack talent and a loaded division doesn't make things any easier. When it's all said and done, Rodgers will have done just enough to screw up a top 3 pick and this team somehow finishes third in the division.

Projections

5-8; 561 Points; 3rd Place NFC East
