The new age of the YFFL has begun. The aftershocks of expansion from a year ago have been felt all season long. Thin rosters, invaluable waiver wire moves, depleting scores are just a few of what owners can expect from here on out. Undoubtedly, this year's winter meeting will be of the utmost importance to implement changes necessary to counteract these issues.
It all boiled down to "What have you done for me lately?" That's what I asked Jeff Garcia shortly before he was traded. Garcia has always been a stand-up fantasy player. More often than not he produced when it counted and there's a direct correlation between the Thugs success as Division Champions four of the last five seasons. Unfortunately, there was increasing pressure to win in the ever-competitive AFC West. The division is stacked with talent. Alexander, Vanderjagt, Moss, Holt, Dunn, Harrison, Brown, James and Green just to name a few. And that's not evening mentioning the QBs Culpepper, Hasselbeck, Vick and Garcia. Think back to the old Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the other..." I had to go on the offensive and the Poop were the only team with considerable depth at QB. Much like Nomar Garciaparra's era in Boston, Garcia's era with the Thugs had come to an adrupt end. I will leave it to the critics to decide where the Jeff Garcia era ranks among the Greatest YFFL era's in this league's storied history?
What have we learned through 4 weeks of YFFL football? The Brothers and Beans must have sold their soul to the devil last year for one year of success. Clearly that year of success is over....The Chickens starting lineup is vastly superior to everyone elses. If they avoid injuries they should cruise into the playoffs...Old guys, although slow, and dangerous behind the wheel, can serve a purpose in the YFFL. Just look at Curtis Martin, Vinny Testaverde and Issac Bruce this season. Don't you go dying on me now!...The AFC West is hands down the best division in football. We knew the Merry Men, Buddies and Eaters would be good but throwing the Thugs into the mix makes this division extremely competitive from top to bottom.
