Draft Day Dealing

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

September 03, 2020

After days (weeks? months?) of self doubt and second-guessing by owner Steve Dugas, the Merry Men made Clyde Edwards-Helaire the top selection in the 2020 YFFL Draft.

The fact that the Merry Men came by the #1 pick via trade was a fitting start to the draft.

Over the course of the first round, 11 of the 16 picks changed hands at some point (including the #6 pick that was held by 4 different teams) in one of the wildest drafts in history.

A flurry of draft night trades was kicked off by the Beans, who swapped WR N'Keal Harry and their #5 pick to the Dragons in order to move up to #3 and draft Joe Burrow, their QB of the future. The Mallards immediately followed that up by breaking up their Tampa Bay tandem of receivers and dealing WR Chris Godwin to the Eaters for the #4 pick, which turned into RB J.K. Dobbins.

The Orangutangs then landed a Pro Bowl receiver in WR Amari Cooper in exchange for their #7 pick and a swap of late round selections with the Buddies. Just a few picks later, the Eaters made a move to draft WR Jerry Jeudy in exchange for a pair of first rounders (2020 and 2021) to the Merry Men.

All in all, it was one of the most entertaining drafts in recent memory and we haven't even mentioned that Bri Davidson drafted from Bong Recreation Area. With the 2020 Draft now behind us, the march towards Super Bowl XXVIII begins in what is already looking like the wildest YFFL season yet.
