Best Buddies

When defending YFFL MVP Patrick Mahomes went down with a scary looking knee injury early in Week 7, many were wondering if the Super Bowl hopes of the Burger Buddies went down along with him.

However, the Buddies proved they were more than just Mahomes by salvaging a win in that game and then totaling 117 points over the next two, including a 73-30 drubbing of the Refugees in Week 9.

With their franchise QB returning in Week 10, the Buddies were hoping to continue that momentum into the final stretch of the regular season and they certainly delivered.

The Buddies scored a season-high 82 points this week en route to an easy victory over the Big Boys. While Mahomes was his usual excellent self (446 yards, 3 TDs, 23 points), the skill players of the Buddies continued to be real difference makers. Derrick Henry extended his career season with his second 18 point game of the year, Amari Copper set a new single season career high with 10 more points, and Tyreek Hill continued to make up for lost time from the start of the season with his 5th TD in just 5 games.

Next week the Buddies will look to all but wrap up the division by seeking revenge on the Thugs, who handed them one of their only two losses this season.

Elsewhere around the league, the Merry Men and aforementioned Thugs both hung onto important victories by a combined 4 points on Monday night to keep pace in the AFC West, the AFC East tightened up thanks to a Bear Poop loss to bring them back to the field a bit, and the NFC West remains up-for-grabs as none of the three contenders were able to win to take the reigns of the division.

With the return of divisional play over the next three weeks, we're headed toward yet another exciting finish to a YFFL season that has been anything but predictable.
