Seems Like Old Times

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

September 11, 2018

The Apple Eaters squared off with the Chunky Chickens in Super Bowl XXIV two years ago in one of the YFFL's most anticipated games in recent memory. After one week of action, are they on a collision course for a rematch?

It certainly looked that way in Week 1. The Eaters and Chickens both topped the 70 point mark to coast to easy opening week victories at the expense of Bobby Sansone's two teams. The wins were spear-headed by a pair of veteran quarterbacks, as Drew Brees and Philip Rivers both scored 25 points apiece. James Conner was also a stand-out for the Chickens, as he filled in admirably for Le'Veon Bell, scoring twice and totalling 192 yards on the ground and through the air.

With both teams as favorites to win their conferences by YFFL owners and GMs, this may be just the start of dominant seasons for both teams.

Elsewhere around the league, it took the Refugees until Week 8 last season to suffer their first loss, but they opened the 2018 season on the wrong end of a 63-32 beat down by Bear Poop, the Tangs pulled an opening week upset over Saquon Barkley and the new-look Llamas thanks to 24 points from Alvin Kamara, and Steve Dugas is off to a good start to the season with a pair of victories, including a 3-score outburst from Tyreek Hill.
