Beans Owe a...

Thank You card to Drew Brees for hand delivering the playoff birth to you. We'll meet again next week!

Steve, you might want to send Brees some flowers or something as, despite your upcoming loss to the Dragons, you'll still have the bye.

Also could RGIII, with another strong performance this week, steal the YFFL MVP from Brees?

I don't know how anyone other than RGIII can win the MVP. The award is for the most valuable player, not the player with the most points.

When will a non QB win the award again?

Is it possible for RGIII to win MVP yet Doug Martin wins RoY?

Hands down, Brees is the MVP.
It has to be decided by points as this is a QB driven league and had Rivers been the QB for the Chickens instead of Brees, much like had someone other than RGIII been the QB for the Beans, neither team would be preparing for the playoffs. The deciding tie-breaker should be points.

If the player with the most points wins the award every year, then we will never again see a MVP that is not a QB. Might be time to split it into two awards, QB of the year and Non-QB of the Year.

The award goes to the player most valuable to his team - case in point - Ahman Green in 2003. Tom Brady, AJ Green and Peyton Manning are also worthy candidates.

The Beans would be 3-10 without RGIII. He has accounted for 31% of their scoring. The Chickens are so good that you could plug any QB (Rivers) in their lineup and they would have still won the division.

So I took a moment to check the numbers and the Chickens would have had the exact same result each and every week this season with Rivers at QB.

Interesting.

here is my ballot (in no particular order). This is shaping up to be the best awards season since the Shaun Alexander controversy of 2005!

Drew Brees - Points leader gets automatic bid, also is extremely good
RG3 - Player that has had the biggest impact on a bad team
Arian Foster - 120+ points is the new 180+ points at the RB position. In a perfect world he would win, but playoffs weigh heavily.
Doug Martin - Apologies to Peyton, but Freeman is not far behind him in points this season
AJ Green - The rock for the Boys this year.
Matt Bryant - The rock for the Refugees this year
